ENCOUNTER

Commuters in Newark would encounter with panhandlers

who are mostly homeless people and personal health issues.

Here are a few tips for off-campus students to consider.

When a homeless persons approaches your car at traffic,

avoid eye contact to prevent any further engagements.

They'll move on and go to the other car.

People would have negative thoughts on the homeless

person, even off-campus students as well. The best way is

keep your thoughts to mind if you don't have anything

nice to say to them.

Most of the homeless people would leave you alone and

just move on. However, if the situation gets worse, do not

engage them and call 9-1-1 instead. The police will be on

route to your location and ask them to leave you alone, but

they'll ask question regarding on the incident. So be ready.
